Planning Board backs Overlook Ridge road layout
Planning Board · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Revere Planning Board advances a $4 million Overlook Ridge Drive intersection and clears a zoning snag for tattoo shops. The board voted 4-0 to recommend the City Council lay out Parcel A1 as a public way, a step toward a MassDOT-permitted, MassWorks-grant-funded signal at Salem Street that unlocks 617 additional housing units, including the development's first affordable homes. Project representative Sam Randall said "there are currently actually no affordable units out in Overlook Ridge Drive today." Engineer Wayne Amico of VHB said the redesign "removes what's currently a severe safety hazard with traffic." Separately, the board voted 5-0 to recommend deleting a zoning rule that barred body art establishments within 500 feet of schools, playgrounds and houses of worship, which had blocked any such business from opening in Revere's general business district.
The City Council hears the Overlook Ridge layout October 26.
