Select Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Revere City Council voted 6-3 to reconsider a $125,000 elevator funding request for Garfield Middle School, then tabled it. Councilor Novoselski, who filed for reconsideration, warned "one elevator is totally down" and said delay risked public safety, while Councilors Cagliandro and Garino-Sawaya argued the school department, which they said holds a surplus exceeding $5 million, should pay instead of the city. Councilors Haas and Kelly were absent.

Separately, the council unanimously ordered engrossed a zoning amendment on body art establishments (9-0), created a mayor-council-school committee working group on naming city property, and approved a late motion from Garino-Sawaya asking DCR, State Police and Revere Police to review traffic safety near Cary Circle after five crashes in eighteen months, including a recent ejection.
