Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
REVERE — The Revere City Council voted against $125,000 in design funding for new Garfield School elevators. The measure failed 6-5 after Councilor Cagliandro and Councilor Argenzio questioned why the school department, which Argenzio said holds a four- or five-million-dollar surplus, was not paying itself; CFO Richard Vizcay said any reallocation would need School Committee action. Separately, the council tabled a contested tree preservation ordinance after hours of testimony, with Councilor Mercurio saying members should "take the time to get it right." The council unanimously approved a three-year crossing guard union contract, $50,000 for citywide tree trimming, $3,000 for library technology, and $83,242.44 for Revere TV, while ordering a $16.5 million Wonderland bond authorization and a short-term rental registry ordinance to an October 26 public hearing.
